Sleep Disorder

Sleep Apnea forces millions of Americans from their restful beds night after night and these people do not know they have it. Your symptoms of nighttime snoring and daytime fatigue may be sleep apnea.

Sleep apnea is a breathing disorder that results in a sleeping patient to repeatedly stop breathing for approximately 10 seconds, numerous times throughout the night. The periods of not breathing are usually followed by loud snoring and daytime sleepiness. Sleep apnea prevents oxygen from getting to the body. This lack of oxygen affects the entire body, including the heart and other organs. Not getting enough oxygen night after night can lead to high blood pressure, irregular heartbeats, heart attacks and stroke.

It constantly interrupts your REM (rapid eye movement, or deep sleep) cycle. This not only affects you, but those around you as well. Heavy snoring is the most common symptom, may keep your bed partner, and even your whole family awake at night. By day, related mood swings may keep your family and co-workers on edge, due to the lack of sleep that you are getting at night.

Excessive snoring and sleep apnea is very serious. Please do not brush off or deny any complaints about your behavior.

Discuss your symptoms with your physician, so they may work with you to establish a plan of action together. Treatment may be easier than you think.

An effective non-surgical option is using a device that will supplement your oxygen, while combining with a continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) machine. This is a special mask that is worn while you sleep, and keeps your airways open. We have a variety of CPAP products to offer as solutions, once you discuss this avenue with your physician.
